The reason why you lose more hair in the fall

Is your shower well more often blocked with hair than normal? And do you walk all day to pick hair off your clothes? No reason to panic! There is a scientific reason why you lose more hair this season…

Research by Johns Hopkins and Washington University shows that people lose more hair at the end of summer and autumn. The scientists analyzed data from Google Trends from eight different countries and focused on the term ‘ hair loss ‘. They looked at the searches between 2004 and 2016 and compared the number of searches per month and season. What turned out? In the summer and autumn, the term ‘hair loss’ was sought much more often.

Hair for protection

It may sound logical to lose her before the summer since you do not need them to keep your head warm, but the researchers are not sure about that. We would lose her if the days get shorter, in the fall, because we no longer need them to protect our scalp from the sun. Ultraviolet radiation can also affect hair loss, which causes our hair to fall out after the summer…

In addition to changing seasons, hair loss can also be the result of a big change in your body, for example, the birth of a child, weight loss or stopping (or starting) with the pill. But since we may lose 100 to 150 hairs per day, there is generally nothing to worry about.
